Italy in Puzzle - Ligurian Riviera -

The Ligurian Riviera is divided into the Riviera di Levante and the Riviera di Ponente. The Riviera di Ponente is characterized by sandy beaches and deep seabed. The main seaside resorts are (from east to west): Varazze, Finale Ligure, Loano, Alassio, Andora, Diano Marina, Sanremo, Bordighera and Mentone (France) The Riviera di Ponente is also called Riviera dei Fiori in the stretch corresponding to the province of Imperia and Riviera delle Palme in that of Savona. The Riviera di Levante is characterized by the presence of beaches with sand interspersed with stones and cliffs that jut out over the sea. In this stretch of coast there are numerous places of high tourist interest, such as Camogli, Portofino, the Gulf of Tigullio and the Cinque Terre. At the eastern end is the gulf of La Spezia, which overlooks the provincial capital of the same name, also called "gulf of poets" for the large number of poets who in the past frequented its coasts. In La Spezia there is an important military and merchant port, and at the ends of the gulf there are the picturesque villages of Tellaro, Lerici and Porto Venere.
