Shut Up Cicadas

In 2024 we are greeted to the sound of two different broods of cicadas that emerge at the same time… once in every 221 years. It’s a springtime event for these winged insects who tunnel out of the ground where they have been living for the past 13 or 17 years and start screaming for mates. Oh, it’s loud, alright. Their mating song can reach 100 Db, the sound of a loud concert...but not one you'd pay for. You are treated if you live in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri or Iowa, and perhaps some other states south. Expect about 4 to 6 weeks of this fun. You might say these are the pest of the midwest.
