The Annunciation COLLECTION (RLS 04)

Every time we say the Hail Mary, we recall the Annunciation--the Archangel Gabriel’s announcement to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she had been chosen by God to be the mother of Christ, the Redeemer. Mary’s “Fiat”, that is, her consent, was a crucial element in Salvation History. + Our featured image of the Annunciation is an early 20th century English one in a pleasing though limited pastel color palette. Though taken by surprise by St. Gabriel’s greeting while at her prayers, Mary’s demeanor is one of humble attentiveness and prayerful acceptance of God’s will. + Feast: March 25
