THE GOLD-RUSH

In 1848 gold was discovered at Sutter`s mill, and the rush was on. People all over the world were struck with "GOLD FEVER". Many struck it rich, but many, many more left California with less than what they arrived with. Many, like my g-great grandfather made their fortunes by providing services to the miners. He was a teamster, and likely hauled goods to and from the gold fields. Sadly about 10,000 Native-American Indians were massacred during this time.
