Tomten

Tomten (singular: tomte) are Scandinavian gnomes; they live in barns and sheds and sometimes in the farmhouse attic, cupboard, pantry, or even under the floorboards. They are seldom seen, but you know they're there by the work they do--helping with chores, protecting livestock, and anything to help keep the farm prosperous.
