Traditional Greek Shoe Krawatte

Tsarouchi is a type of shoe, which is part of the traditional uniform worn by the Evzone of the Greek Presidential Guard. Their origin goes back to the Byzantine times, with impact from styles imported by neighboring tribes, including the Turks. They were the most common footwear worn by both urban and rural Greeks, mainly men, but also many women. They are typically made of a number of pices of stiff leather hand-sewn together, in the moccasin fashion. They have a characteristic poiny nose, usually covered by a large woolen pompon.
