The Amen Modern story began back in 2002, when Katy and Celeste became friends while working as designers in New York City. At the time, Celeste was a graphic designer living in a sweet studio apartment in the East Village of Manhattan. Katy was a design student, struggling to get all of her projects in on time. Often Katy would retreat away to Celestes apartment for R & R, where they would attend Mass together to refuel their spirit, head to their favorite creperie, and dream up all sorts of business ideas by collaborating their design talents. Fast forward to 15 years later, now Katy and Celeste live in two different states and are working designers and Moms. While surrounded by their families and kids, they realized together an opportunity in the Christian market, for modern and playful design, to glorify God's creation and love. While both being discouraged by the 'hair band Jesus' images of the past, or the dated 1950's 'Leave it to Beaver' aesthetic, we set out to create and offer something totally fresh and unique to the Christian world. Our playful and clean aesthetic is inspired by God's playtime, as he creates every detail in the universe, out of his adorable love for His creation.
