A growing collection of images of the noble bear -- grizzlies, black bears, polar bears, and more -- rendered by artists in classic paintings, illustrations, and drawings culled from fine art, naturalist publications, and popular art. The bear is of special meaning to my family, so I felt inspired to explore how artists have acknowledged its power and place in our world.
