Since 2004, Blood is the New Black has sought to showcase emerging artists in order to aid their careers in the arts and at the same time introduce the public to artists they may not have had the opportunity to know about otherwise. <br><br> Rather than focus on trends in the fashion industry, the line encourages the public to explore current art and design trends by prominently featuring the artists’ work on their products. <br><br> Rooted in the idea that Blood, or rather a family of over a dozen artists and their ideas, should be the basis of trends rather than color palates dictated by the fashion elite, Blood is the New Black designs explore topics that are relevant to those who create them. Ranging from love to death, sex, money, social status, nature, God, even the extinction of the Dinosaurs, the shirts are truly walking canvases, making art available to all to view and wear. <br><br> From the shirt design, to the hangtag and neck label on each shirt, credit is given where it’s due, to the artist instead of obscuring the talent behind a brand name.
