Über mich/uns
I am a forty-seven year old artist/woman. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, youngest daughter of two exceptional artists. I prospered from many artistic opportunities, including growing up with a studio in my house.
In high school I participated in “The Community”, an alternative education program which taught me how to learn, and that the world is my classroom.
Along the way, I’ve been owner of an artwear business, cook, (coolest job was as vegetarian chef for the Princes of Dubai!) painter, photographer and more.
I lived abroad for 5 years, two in England, where I was trained to Teach English as a Foreign Language, and 3 in India, where I taught, lived and gave birth.
In 1985 I landed in Lexington, KY, where my then husband had a position with the university. In 1993 I left suburbia and marriage for a lifestyle in accordance with my values. I founded the Voluntary Simplicity Support Group 10 years ago and we met for 8 and a half years. From 1995-1999 I put myself through school and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Integrated Strategic Marketing. From 1999 until 2006 I worked for a small publishing company where I evolved from Graphic Designer to Senior Designer, Creative Director, Account Executive, Editor and finally General Manager of Sales and Marketing for a highly distributed regional resource called Health & Wellness Magazine.
In 2007 I quit my "day job"...jumping off the cliff in order to fly, no longer willing to risk dying without having lived my dreams and followed my heart. The scales no longer showing the illusion of financial security as weighing heavier than freedom and following the flow as it comes specifically for me. I have lived the last two years travelling between Latin America and Lexington, Kentucky. My time journeying and living in Guatemala and Mexico have been a deep and conscious process of hitting bottoms...oftentimes as revisits to familiar themes...and going deeper, deeper; removing all the layers of sense of self I'd held...for security, survival and out of ego's panic ("I must BE Someone. Right?!) Walking through the terror around letting go of false, negative yet comfortable beliefs over and over, till I am and choose to stand as what I always knew was under all the crud and pain...a precious holotropic facet of the divine jewel that is All That Is. Of course, words fail...but You know what I mean. When I'm not in Kentucky, I live in a small village in Mexico, where I live simply, consciously and gratefully.
