Stroke Survivors CAN! began its story by me having a stroke in 2012. I was 57. Through the stroke, I was unable to speak, had to be confined to a wheelchair, and largely lost the use my right side extremities. I had to retire from work and quit playing the bass. Through extensive rehabilitation, community, exercise, healthy grieving, and opportunity, I launched by website, strokesurvivorscan.org. This nonprofit helps stroke survivors find hope and empowerment by telling stories from other stroke survivors and by sponsoring other stroke survivors who desire to pursue noncontant sporting events. Through fund raising and purchases, you can make a difference in stroke survivors!
